Partnering With a Sighted Guide | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The REFB program is open to all B/VI runners and walkers in the Austin area. Training for runners/walkers and sighted guides is ongoing throughout the year, but it also reflects the Austin racing calendar. Therefore fewer training sessions may be scheduled during the summer. Training To be partnered with a sighted guide, you must attend at least one training session. Currently, training/practices at held at The Texas School for the Blind track located at 45th Street and Lamar Blvd on Saturday mornings at 9 am to prepare runners and guides for upcoming road races. Sighted guides are carefully matched to B/VI participants according to athletic interests, pace and general compatibility. Because of the regular contact at training sessions, guides and participants often choose each other. Be Partnered with a Sighted Guide Contact: REFB Interested individuals may also come, without obligation, to one of the Saturday morning training sessions.
